	We are design engineers with a structural bent. We combine our structural engineering and design experience with learning from other areas of art, technology and engineering to achieve both functional and aesthetic solutions to the challenges we are given. We provide services as any other structural engineering consultancy but for the more unconventional structures. As our strapline states, “A different kind of design and engineering consultancy”. Ingenu initially concentrated on design of architectural membrane structures, and this has diversified into other surface structure types and less conventional materials. We therefore possess excellent 3D skills and comprehension, the ability to design in a wide range of materials (to British or other standards) and provide services at any stage of a project from concept to construction and beyond. We can play an active part in the Design Team or tailor services to provide a supporting role to other consultants.

	*Architectural membrane structures* are not just tents. They are one of the earliest forms of structure which, through the development of high performance materials, has generated a new type of construction. Drawing from sailing and bridge technology, tensioned membrane structures now feature in many of the most innovative structures worldwide. Designing these structures requires a thorough understanding of the materials, complex geometry and engineering criteria involved. Without this knowledge the exposed nature of the structures makes any mistakes very evident. Attention to detail and access to the correct design tools is of paramount importance. Ingenu can provide these services to cover concept development, form finding, load analysis, structural calculations, construction information drawings, and cutting patterns relating to all surface tension structures.
